The CHQ has also brought to their notice about the unnecessary pressure being mounted on the non executives in the name of SIM selling. The CMD stated that Purchase order for procurement of 20000 battery sets at a cost of Rs. 30,6000 crores has been issued and the entire order is expected to be delivered by December 23 in a phased manner. The CMD then dwelt on the issue of Merger of MTNL and BSNL and stated that the Govt of India wants this merger to take place immediately and none can stop this and asked the unions and associations to spelt out their views on this in writing within a short time.
The CHQ has asked the CMD BSNL to ensure that the 3rd PRC is implemented within 3 months as the management can do this if it can and then only proceed towards merger of the two CPSUs. Without 3rd PRC merger is meaning less the CHQ told the CMD BSNL. The meeting lasted for about 3 hours.
