Update on the implementation of IDA increase in BSNL wef 01.01.2026:

BSNL Board has approved the implementation of Increased IDA in BSNL wef 01.01.2026.

The issue has arisen because DoT, instead of recommending and endorsing the orders to BSNL has sought concurrence of BSNL Board that BSNL can bear the expenditure through its internal accruals. This was firmly objected by General Secretary of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh through its letter dated 29.04.2026 citing its contradiction with the set norms and procedure as DA revision is based on the inflation index and not related with the affordability of a company to bear the expenditure. BMS also demanded to arrange for the implementation in the salary of month of May 2026.

As Formal Board Meeting would have taken some time to be convened, BSNL Apex body decided to get the same approved through Circulation instead of waiting for a physical meeting to convene. BSNL Board has approved the proposal and the letter in this regard is being sent to DoT today for issuance of the orders.

It is also understood that future IDA increase has also been delinked with the Board approval making the future IDA increase implementation smooth without linking to any affordability clause.

We express our thanks to the BSNL Management for realising the urgent need for the implementation of IDA increase and taking all possible actions to expedite the same. Time and again we have been empasising that this issue is a procedural issue and shall definitely be taken care of by the management.

We also express our gratitude to the BMS leadership also for raising the issue firmly and sqaurely at higher echelons.

The larger focus of BDM remains on the resolution of the issues pertaining to PPP and PRC. At the same time we remain committed to ensure that small procedural issues do not meet any roadblocks and sails towards resolution.

Letter sent to DoT. All future IDA increase payments shall be extended with approval of CMD BSNL. No Board approval is required for the future payments of IDA revision.

Thanks to GS BMS for timely and proactive intervention. In the same way, we will achieve 3rd PRC also.
